The Apple II computer was the first mass produced usable personal computer. It was developed by Steve Wozniak in 1977. The design with plug-in boards inspired the development of the IBM PC using the same electronics configuration. The design was unique that it used a high quality encasing with a switched power supply. The used microprocessor, the MOS Technologies 8 bit 6502 was cost effective and powerful enough to kickstart the personal computer industry.
The Apple II Plus computer, 1979, shown on display is the successor of the original Apple II. Besides usage as a home computer, the business usage accelerated as well, particularly after the introduction of VisiCalc, the first visual spreadsheet.
